Guangzhou to beggars and the homeless: I know no pity

Images of pointed cement little pyramids started to circulate online. They are not art work of any sort. They are the defense system built in Guanzhou under a few overpass bridges where beggars and the homeless often gather and use as shelter to spend the night.

Journalists from Nandu Daily said no local government department claimed responsible for the construction when they went to investigate the case. According their report, such constructions were found under the Baiyun bridge, Tianhe bridge and many others. Among the local residents interviewed, some thought that the government should have more tolerance of the homeless and show humanity in their management. Others, however, approved such constructions because no one should be allowed to sleep or rest among busy traffic. Netizens’ reaction? WFT….because it’s just wrong on so many levels.
